Rainbow Birthday Party

5 Jun

Look what I found! Pictures from my daughter’s 4th birthday party. (Side note: She’s 5 now and I’m just getting around to sharing the pictures. That’s how time flows in our house–like a river, like a lazy river.)

I drew a ton of inspiration from Pinterest and, with my daughter’s help, we put our own spin on the party.

- Double Layer Tie Dye Rainbow Cake, frosted with a Skittles Rainbow and Marshmallow Cloud

- Red seedless grapes

- Rainbow goldfish

- Big bowl of Skittles

Goody Bags:

- Colorful kazoos

- Rainbow heart and star stickers

- Plastic leis in a rainbow of colors

- Pixie sticks

Party guests were asked to dress in bright colors and we lined the table with cups full of crayons to color rainbow pictures. But the main entertainment was dancing under the streamers. Have you seen the hula hoop streamer trick? Check out the tutorial at the lovely Housing a Forest blog. Tip: Spin your ceiling fan s-l-o-w-l-y. You might think it would be cool to turn up the speed and crank it. Yeah, at higher speeds the hula hoop starts to wobble, the streamers start to tangle, and the parents begin to look a little nervous. (The parents already think you’re crazy for hanging a hula hoop on your ceiling fan. Not to mention they are probably more than a little ticked that you served the kids a giant bowl of Skittles and then gave them a kazoo.)

Thank you, Joy! Sorry I’m so late to reply. We are relocating from MN to NE and everything is chaotic. Be well! –Amy
